  • University of Toronto Dept. of Family & Community Medicine - this course is not entirely Web-based but it is included here as an example of a serious distance learning course in which registration, purchases, and completed assignments can be submitted online. "The course is organised into nine modules each requiring between four and six hours to complete. Each module includes required reading (Evidence-based Family Medicine, a textbook written by the course director.), supplementary reading and the completion of a literature critique.

  • The University of Virginia - online CME program for cardiologists includes a wide selection of case-based learning programs.   • American Academy of Family Physicians - provider of CME courses and CME acreditation organization.

  • American Medical Association - provides information about online CME courses currently offered by the association.

  • American Medical Women's Association - Domestic Violence Course - this program is designed for physicians, residents in all specialities, medical students, and other health care professionals.

  • American Psychiatric Association - on line symposia are available for access without charge. There is, however, a fee for processing the self-test and provision of a CME certificate. A copy of the RealPlayer is required to access the symposia.

  • American Society of Clinical Oncology - clinical practice guidelines offering CME: unresectable small-cell lung cancer, use of tumor markers in breast and colorectal cancer, recommended breast cancer surveillance guidelines, and hematopoietic colony-stimulating factors. Registration required to access content.

  • American Society of Clinical Oncology-1999 Virtual Meeting - this activity requires you to register and establish a unique user name and password. There is a modest fee associated with this activity. ASCO Members desiring CME credit will be charged $8.00 a credit hour and non-members will be charged $10.00 a credit hour.

  • The Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM) - strives to be the preeminent organization responsible for providing comprehensive national and regional continuing education programs to physicians, physician trainees, and other health professionals who perform or provide nuclear medicine services.

  • Association of Reproductive Health Professionals - accredited by the Accreditation Council on Continuing Education (ACCME). ARHP also provides continuing education units (CEUs) and other forms of credentialing (such as ACOG cognates) to reproductive health professionals who participate in our clinical programs.

  • International AIDS Society - USA - the goal of the CME programs is to provide advanced-level courses that present balanced, timely, scientifically rigorous, and clinically relevant information about HIV disease management. The activities are designed for physicians who are actively involved in HIV disease management.

  • MedWatch-U.S. Food & Drug Administration - free Continuing Education articles for health professionals. Articles are in PDF format. At present only one article still offering current CME: Post-marketing Surveillance for Adverse Events After Vaccination: The National Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS).

  • National Institute of Health - one can receive Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits for successful performance on the quizzes.

  • National Institute of Health Consensus Program - online distance learning program. Each of the quizzes have been accredited for 1 hour of Continuning Medical Education credit towards the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Your answers to these tests will be graded immediately, and you will receive by mail a certificate for 1 hour of credit for each test you successfully complete.

  • Southern Medical Association - these articles are provided by the Southern Medical Association for medical informational purposes. When completed as directed, Southern Medical Association awards CME credit for reading and evaluating a selection of three articles each approximately 20 minutes in length for a total of 1 CME hour per submission.

  • Texas Medical Association - all available courses help satisfy Texas requirements for ethics CME, in addition to being available for all physicians as AMA Category I courses.

  • The Philippine Medical Association (PHILIPPINES) - aims to become one of the pioneering, most successful and widely recognized online CME accreditation programs in Asia and the global medical community.
